Moore's Eastwood Hotel

DESCRIPTION

Located at 115 Rowe Street, Eastwood, the original Moore's Eastwood Hotel, operated by Jim Moore, stood on the corner of Railway Parade and was established in the early twentieth century. The hotel also played an important role in Eastwood's early social history, with the local Masonic Lodge using the premises for meetings in 1885.

In 1938, the property was acquired by Tooth & Co., which commissioned a complete redevelopment of the hotel. The original building was demolished and replaced with the current Art Deco structure, designed by the architectural firm Rudder & Grout and completed in 1939.

Today, the renamed Eastwood Hotel remains a significant local landmark and a notable example of interwar architecture. It continues to operate as a community venue, offering a sports bar, family-friendly bistro and function spaces.
