Eastwood Lunar New Year Festival, 2023
DESCRIPTION
The City of Ryde Lunar New Year Festival is organised by the City of Ryde in partnership with the Lunar New Year Committee. This year there was something for all ages with cultural performances, high pole lion dance, market stalls and food trucks. The kids were kept entertained with amusement rides, games and face painting and the top of the night a spectacular fireworks display.
The Cat is the fourth animal symbol in the 12-year cycle of the Vietnamese zodiac, taking the place of the Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac. Why Year of the Cat? The most common explanation is the word used for the “rabbit zodiac” (M.o ~ Mẹo) sounds like the Vietnamese word for “cat” (con mèo).
