William Harrison, died 1984
DESCRIPTION
William Harrison was a West Ryde estate agent and long-serving member of Ryde Municipal Council who served several terms as Mayor of Ryde during the 1930s and early 1940s. He was Mayor in 1935–1936, 1938 and again from 1940 until his resignation in June 1942. During the 1940 Ryde state by-election, Harrison stood as an Independent candidate and was described as the youngest person to have held the office of Mayor of Ryde.
