Percy Garraway Chatfield, 1863–1941
DESCRIPTION
Percy Garraway Chatfield (1863–1941) was a licensed surveyor, Ryde alderman and Mayor of Ryde from 1932 to 1934. Born in Sydney on 10 March 1863, he married Amelia Elizabeth Mackaness in 1887 and lived at "Aeolus" on North Road, Ryde. Chatfield was a prominent figure in Ryde's municipal life during the early 20th century. He died at Ryde on 26 August 1941, aged 78, and was buried at the Field of Mars Cemetery.
