Alexander Stewart
DESCRIPTION
Alexander Stewart was an alderman of the Municipality of Ryde and Mayor of Ryde in 1920. He was serving on Ryde Council by 1918 and, at the municipal election of 31 January 1920, was elected to represent East Ward. On 5 February 1920, Stewart was elected Mayor of Ryde, succeeding John Kelly. He served as mayor until December that year, when Charles Dyer was elected as his successor. Stewart continued to serve as a Ryde alderman until at least 1923
