Walter Hibble

DESCRIPTION

Walter Hibble was a prominent Ryde alderman, local historian, and community leader who served as Mayor of Ryde in 1900. He was elected mayor at a special meeting of Ryde Council on 9 February 1900.

Beyond local government, Walter Hibble is especially remembered for his interest in the district's early history. He researched and documented the settlement of Ryde and surrounding areas, publishing "Early History of Ryde and Surrounding District", a work that remains an important source for local historians today.
