The North Ryde School of Arts was established in 1891, with its main hall completed in 1901 on land donated by William Cox. It served as a community hub for meetings, dances, and other events, and housed a library, which was the start of the current North Ryde Library. After the original hall was demolished in 1980, a new Community Centre and Library was built on the site, which officially opened in 1982.
