North Ryde’s library service began in December 1946 with a deposit station run by volunteers in a room at the North Ryde School of Arts building on Coxs Road. The building stood on land donated by William Cox and served the community for several decades.
Following the demolition of the original School of Arts building in 1980, the library service was temporarily relocated to an unused classroom at North Ryde Public School. A new Community Centre and Library was then constructed on the original site, with the official opening taking place on 21 August 1982.
