Date Taken2024DescriptionThe Ryde Bicentenary Quilt measures 3m x 2m and was hand sewn by 65 community volunteers in 1992 as part of Ryde's Bicentenary, commemorating 200 years since the first land grants.
It depicts the past, present and future of Ryde.
Descriptive text related to the design of the quilt refers to the 1832 punt/ferry from Bedlam Point to Abbotsford.
There were three punts across the Parramatta River. One from Bedlam Point; one called the 'Ryde Punt" which went from Meadowbank to Rhodes. The third and the only one in existence when this quilt was designed and made was the Putney to Mortlake ferry.
