Granny Smith Festival, 2020
Due to COVID, the 2020 Granny Smith Festival was delivered online during October.
A month of fun and exciting events to celebrate the Granny Smith Festival kicked off on the October long weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday the City of Ryde in partnership with Macquarie University staged four cinema drive-in screenings on the university campus, featuring the movies Scoob, Shazam!, Mosley and The Gentlemen. Tickets were $15 and included pizza and dessert delivered directly to each car.
Then on Monday, the City of Ryde’s first ever Virtual Scavenger Hunt began. People were encouraged to complete as a group or individually fun interactive activities for their chance to win EFTPOS giftcards, all from the comfort of their homes.
Finally on Wednesday, council fired up the oven for Granny’s Virtual Kitchen, in which kids between the ages of four and 14 were able to take part in live online cooking workshops and learn to cook recipes using Granny Smith apples.
Other activities included:
- Display of Plaza art;
- Live performance by Emma from the Wiggles;
- Orchestral concert from Brush Farm House;
- Eastwood and a Big Apple Talent Quest
