Granny Smith Festival, 1993
The 1993 Granny Smith Festival was centred on Eastwood, though the parade was part of the official opening and the family entertainment evening and fireworks were held a week later.
The grand opening and street procession took place on Saturday 16 October. The parade travelled from Eastwood Park, Glen Street, Shaftsbury Road and Rowe Street. There were two stages for entertainment: Trelawney Street stage and the Eastwood Plaza Stage area. The apple theme was always present with an apple pie baking competition and apple pip readings!
The conclusion was on Saturday 23 October with local high school bands providing the entertainment. The night concluded with fireworks.
Other activities that occurred within the festival week included an award ceremony for the annual Spring Garden competition, West Ryde Market Day, fashion parades, migrant talks and a brass band competition.
